Forest People

This poem, Forest People, was created by our resident freelance scientist at a forest service orientation presentation. Public land managers now have to compete for maintenance funds - community partnerships should result, once people develop a language with which to communicate, rather than talking past each other. Thanks to Rick for talking forests and John for allowing our high school kids up there, learning whether this is where they would like to make their difference. doctor lenny

forest people
trees R only one facet
recreation, fishing, hunting
running around - enjoy
fungus among us
lichen mines the air
soil focus - in fire
plantations gone
subsoil restoration
compaction gone
trees benefit, grow carbon
find new stuff daily
plan work, work plan
oak flats unique
fir choke, fire loss
public plan 2 harvest burn
kayvee return 4 maintenance
better life, better forest
be out in the woods
as much as possible
on the ground
on the ground
things shall move again
for forest people
