Also - A new soapbox has been posted at howdt.com - discussing the process of a citizen committee that is functional at cooperation on a federal/local level. This eliminates a pass through and back from the state level - reducing the total number of hands on the money before it gets spent locally. Too often, multiple levels of government siphon off the money before it reaches its destination. This happens all the time in the education network.

Here's a novel idea - stop the imposed welfare state and allow reasonable timber harvest on federal lands. I know - define reasonable. Ah, Bartlebey.
