Dam Spooky

Is it all governments or just the so-called democratic ones that have so little clue about the way the ecosystems function? Natural law is what it is and the second law of thermodynamics is very clear that you can't get something for nothing. So why do we continually have to watch the farce, of idiots ramming through major shit just because they can? You get to be horrified by this one. (I like the article, but the shameless glorification of Cameron and the Avatarites is both nonsense and bad form).

Dams and big power projects are a serious bane to the free flow of the waters. Schaumberger has the theory that meandering energizes to molecules when form is fit to sacred geometric proportion. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the argument goes on for pulling existing dams. This would release all the silt and particulate behind the wall downstream, where it will plug up benthic interstices and essentially smother both the redds and the bug (read food) populations.

A case of damned if you do, dammed if you don't.

(BTW - most east coast rivers in the USA were straightened in the 1600's by the process of cutting and shipping logs down rivers.)
