Re: ‘Socialization’ in Government Schools

Bill, The entire theory behind using schools to socialize children is based on the nonsensical premise that children become socialized by being isolated with large numbers of other children, with a few token adults present. Presumably, the purpose of socialization is to help children one day interact in the larger world. Yet, modern schools are set up in such a way as to be as unlike the larger world as possible. At your job, do you spend your days with dozens of other people who are exactly the same age and who all do the same thing all day? Of course not. Then why teach a child how to function in such an unrealistic environment?

The unfortunate byproduct of all of this is the fact that studies have shown that for many children, their peer groups are more influential to them, and more important for them, than their families. This is a strictly recent and modern development, and is the result of so many parents simply abandoning their prerogatives as parents to the schools.

Ordinary schooling is also a gargantuan waste of time for the most gifted students, since they are constantly held back to the speed of the slowest students. But students learn at different rates and have different talents, so the “slow” students in one subject, might do well the next when different topics and skills are covered. Home schools have the flexibility to address these issues. Public schools simply leave struggling children demoralized and uneducated. Most public schools have some banal motto like “Excellence is for everyone” or something equally illogical. A more appropriate motto for most would be “Sink or Swim!” Indeed, if one wished to devise the most inefficient, most child-unfriendly, most self-esteem-crushing system possible, it’s hard to imagine a system more adept at this than modern public schooling.

But I’m afraid that this Onion headline is the natural progression of the modern American’s attitude toward schooling:

Increasing Number Of Parents Opting To Have Children School-Homed

WASHINGTON—According to a report released Monday by the U.S. Department of Education, an increasing number of American parents are choosing to have their children raised at school rather than at home.

Deputy Education Secretary Anthony W. Miller said that many parents who school-home find U.S. households to be frightening, overwhelming environments for their children, and feel that they are just not conducive to producing well-rounded members of society.

Now Back to Dr. Lenny - the time has come for change, the change is on the way. Go join your nearest grange and help me start building a new education system. If you can bankroll my personal time, i can offer a new form of things to come. I wish we could be done with the olde weigh, but it is still there and i must begin now, anyway, anyhow. This will be trippy, but it need be done.

Hay Ho

Silly puppy went into the street and is now a former puppy that didn't quite make it to doghood. You get transfixed sometimes into thinking that things will always be there as you left them, and then something happens that switches the parameters entirely from the grand plan. Everything is ephemeral, nothing is sacred. This dog was well loved in her short life. Hay 2009-2010 RIP.

Pyramids with time dilation properties - the WuJo continues. This little two inch pyramid shows much greater color when photographed than any appearance in person might lead one to believe. George gets into it today at urban survival - that if you project yourself above the apex, you can get more done in less time - sort of like a multiplication factor to your efficiency. When inside the geome, time tends to slow down to a plodding point.

Time Tunnel did a take-off on this concept when Doug and Tony made it back to the seventies, but at 10x normal speed. I wonder what would happen if we just let go of the concept of time. Everybody would deal with the pace of life as the pace of life and be in the now. Entire concepts like wealth accumulation would change overnight. My guess is that major change is already here, we just don't recognize the extent.

I really like the Alan Parsons Project Pyramania album. The songs have an upbeat rhythm that soothes my musical proclivities. Mebbe we can make pyramidal bonfires and enjoy all sorts of hedronistic design.

For the Record

I see that i am not flying solo with the sentiments expressed in the prior post. This piece is the conclusion of a recently published book - sovereignty requires responsibility, but is the only way to go.

Political Post

Now that the demoncrats have rammed thru their health care bill, we can see that the political system is hopelessly howdt of control with no sense of sanity at all. The two-headed, one-party creature that pretends to govern just eats and eats. The time for the uberstructure to disappear has come - we can ignore all political mandates that come from any entity larger that a single daily travel by bicycle will allow.

Demand home rule that is really from home. Stop allowing the thuggery - Stop using federal reserve notes - Stop playing submissive to silly corporate dominance. Turn off your TV - Turn off your internet (yes - this too shall pass) - Turn on your mind. Think for yourself and work with real people in the unintentional community formed by looking around and finding your neighbors.

Uh - a rerun of American Idol is on - time to go. Beep.

I promised my friend Stella Jane that i would help her promote her video. I will give testimonial to her product - i use it as a topical massage oil. Stella is sharing her techniques - there is much wisdom in her approach. I like the fact that she did this - major cool. I downloaded both videos to my computer. Julia Child had better start worrying ...

I apologize, but this one had me rolling in the aisles. Graphic content.

And while i'm being politically incorrect : try this too. Again - kinda rude, but funny.

Failing Geography 101

Does anybody else think it strange that the NCAA is holding an Eastern Regional bracket in San Jose California? Maybe this says something very specific about the quality of university education. How much do we pay these guys anyway? Ask OJ Mayo...

What i wanna do

Y'know how you know when there is something to do and you've been avoiding doing it for some mysterious undefined reason? Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get er done. I have been waiting to put forth the ONRRI institute for several weeks now and just couldn't sit myself down to write the copy. Well, i just got it all together and done did it. Go to ONRRI space.

So now, help me figure howdt how to pull off an entirely new concept in education today - actual learning.

Copper in your Water

When i talk about toxins in the water system, i generally refer to the real metal baddies as mercury, arsenic, uranium and lead. Copper is identified here as a bad guy in excess concentration, but it is a necessary micronutrient for bio-metabolism. A lot of the stuff that comes in the water is nutritionally bad - as a chemist, i personally think that aluminum and fluorine are both entirely insidious as they are artificial creations of industry - harmful byproducts. The mechanism of all prion diseases is under debate - the medical folks have nary a clue about bio-mechanisms. It is time to cleanse our waters!

suddenly : flying past ...

Things travel along at a pace that defies frequency - leaping forth faster than acceleration will allow. Every decision is magnified and sends waves of energy through the space-path. The earth quakes, the volcanoes rumble - there is too much cognitive dissonance. I shall curl internal and prey for the sounds of silence. Of course - there is much to be done and i need to get my head ready. Breathe deep.

Full Moon and New Year

What you don't know can be the whole key to accomplishing any task. If you consider that the facts will change before you finish, then you can accommodate change and hit the ground running. There are so many minefields, that the only way to walk is with your head up and feet on the ground. Send love bombs to commandeer their hate bombs. The whole world is nuts - so be just a bit more nuts than the other guy (or gal).

Today is a new year for me in treei terms. Mass Massing. The whole picture of how things come together for the next 64 days is set forth via the intention of today. I am in love and at peace. My satyagraha is to clean the waters - first water being cleansed is my own. Adding a drop of lugol's iodine to each glass of water that i consume - water is the key of life.

Everybody Counts

others are just three
