Easter Bunnies

These little guys are four days old - born on Easter Sunday - and the red broken doe below is mom - Her name is Zawitch. Satin rabbits go 9 - 11 pounds when full grown. Our hutch has a dozen working does and three bucks. The rabbit poop makes an excellent fertilizer and compost additive.

Saving Face

saving face
digging substrata
removing the growth
malignancies
which return daily
work to catch up
as cells divide
worm their way
into deeper occupation
fungi scraped edges
catalyzed reappearance
until eradicated
logarithmic procession
never gaining ground
constant combat
just saving face

Windshield Philosophy

Spent most of the week on the road - checking out possibilities. Many miles on the car - fortunately, I have passengers for two of the three distances. Oregon is an awesone state to see the outdoors - Klamath Falls and birds - Oregon Gardens in Silverton - and a conservatory on the Washington side of the Columbia gorge.

A Poem of Today

Me : Surrounded by Me, introspective of Me
All knowing, all seeing, this universe circles Me
Happens for my benefit, egocentric about Me
I invite you in for my entertainment
I grant you the privilege of listening to Me
I make up what I say as I go along
Because it is incumbent of Me
You will do what I want, when I want
This world rotates around Me
There is no we in Me
I alone know what is best
I have no time to put up with you
Lately what have you done for Me
I see only what I wish to see
And mostly, not much concerns Me
When do we eat? I am hungry now
You will jump to my beck and call
And support my effort as I spit on you
Because the only one of importance is Me
(Why do I hate the mirror?)
Am I : You?

OINK

ThisI have created an interactive newscast - which will be aired live at 6:00 Pacific Coast time on any given day. The ONNRI Interactive News Kast - OINK - will feature News about what is happening and what has happened in the natural resources community of the Umpqua Basin. My characters - Doctor Lenny, lemme howdt, Professor Molybdo and Father Gaia - of the religion of science dogma - may be contributors to the conversation. Which I must attend to presently. Ciao

Order, Chaos and Peace

READSociety needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, by individual people willing to do the things that they feel are necessary to do. Philosophically speaking: The beat that your creativity carries toward your approach to the world is reflected in your contribution to posterity. And the beat goes on. (or so the song says)

Karma and Dogma

ReadWhen I woke up, I was angry. I made a post, but the mechanism of the site didn't accept it. I went off to do other things. Now that I am back, I can see where the prior post may not have left the proper impression that I wish to convey.
ThisWe are all in this world together. We do not function in a vacuum. Sometimes, a hug and a prayer is what you need to get going again - to get the juices flowing and be motivated to take action. Do it - hug somebody and forgive them.

Body Language

ReadWords have meaning, but the delivery of words are often mitigated by the action of those delivering the words. If the words keep sounding good, but the action keep sustaining the practice that the words are no longer matching, then the time has come to release the belief that the words have any meaning at all. Actions speak louder that words.

Waxing Eloquent

ReadThe scientific burden of acceptability of the machine is nonsense - vetted data can still be irrellevant. Education has to be personalized, so that people know that they are learning something that they can apply for their own personal profit. If we all learn different skills and barter our services, then perhaps we can open a new colored market, not a black market, so to speak, but a market the color of freedom. Perhaps we can create something - an interactive newscast that gives people the opportunity to raise questions to the news readers.
ThisONRRI is looking for mechanisms that reach out to people, but stay off the radar screen of the functionally oblivious. One of the challenges is to identify those role players within the statist system that are there solely because they would prefer to administrate than be administrated upon. Most people do their jobs rote mindless - that is the problem. Rote mindless follows rules. We know what Thoreau thinks about their rules.

Brown Grass for Salmon

ReadHere in the Pacific Northwest, our water levels are 30% of normal for this time of year. The reservoirs are not refilling at the normal rate because most of our normal snowpack took the jet stream south and dumped on California this winter. In order to conserve resources for the depths of summer - I'd like to suggest the Brown Grass for Salmon campaign - an unClean Cars for Coho campaign - and the Water Waste Watch. Otherwise, our fry might fry.

Restoration

Duff, fluff - be part of the fluff
such insult in so tiny a word
our future media circus must provide
entertainment value at a level
having so much fun, knowledge
becomes part of the scenery

Peel away the onion skin of today
to find the innards rotted to the core
yet rebirth each spring in nature
fostered from a ubiquitously absent
congregation of decomposers
whose purpose in life is to turn
rot to mush to soil to life

Baskets ready, hatchets drawn
revolutionary teams exhibit renewal
for at the core, a bill of rights
a shining constituency amasses
layers of rot decay rapidly
when the means to provide justice
falls into the hands of those
prepared to use the tool wisely

On Steroids

ReadCongress on steroids - it's not a pretty scene. This Cato Institute opinion doesn't go far enough. Drugs may be a bad decision, but adult Americans need to have the ability to learn why bad decisions are bad decisions for themselves. fight crime, not drugs.
ThisAnother irritant - why are some drugs like caffeine, theobromine and ibuprofin harmful and okay and yet medical marijuana places people subject to asset forfeiture? Isn't asset forfeiture robbery by government? And they take your stuff without conviction. Look at the court records - state of oregon vs. 1994 Chevy Impala. Like the car commits a crime - duh.

Stress

ReadTension in the air - everybody is acting fruity all together at once. It's almost as if the national mood were governed by some distant pin prick - ouch - physical pain and now everyone's hoppin mad. My guess is that it is economic - the end of the string is upon us and people without foresight are starting to feel the pinch - when gas prices rise two bits in two weeks.

For serious educators

Confucious say - When words lose their meanings, people will lose their liberty.

Science is based on the process of discrimination, with choice being limited to control the terms for the variables available for study to be the focus of the actual physical change. Biologists are still collating information on what biology is, but chemistry and physics both rely on isolating circumstance to allow the only path that we set to discriminate the variables.

Goslin's read here has a marvelous mechanism for opening students minds to thought.

Endeavor Beyond

Endeavor beyond

Wisdom of the Dog

ReadThis linked article left me feeling better about Duncan, my German Shepherd and his role in the hierarchy of farm life as new animals replace old friends. It also ended up being deep in education philosophy.

"The teacher John Taylor Gatto ... said true education has three purposes:

To make good people.
To make good citizens.
To make each student find some particular talent to develop to the maximum
."

short dialog

i generally don't think much about what other people think - they think about their thoughts much better than i could

Well, it is good to let people say what they think without getting upset with them. One is no less a human being even if they have bad information or a warped way of seeing a particular issue.
