weather - how to know

Dr. Lenny posted a comment yesterday on a new blog in defense of George Taylor, the Oregon State climatologist. The comment is not up on the site today. I don't think the site liked what i had to say, so they may just ignore my input. I invited folks here, so maybe they will check us howdt, because they are looking for bloggers to participate. Contemporary media loves to shoot the messenger - here is yet another attempt by a climate expert at deflating the media-IPCC-borg approach to debate.

Since i attended the OSU carbon conference last week, i have been more attuned to this media version of the global warming debate. The approach is entirely contrived, as logic provided here at the Zone and other places demonstrates that climate 1) has a lot of variables and 2) has a great degree of uncertainty in its measure. To understand better, Dr. Lenny has ordered a weather station with a 5-Watt solar panel and will role up his sleeves and start measuring local climate.

Dr. Lenny lives in a unique micro-climate zone, where everything is 'sunshine, lollypops and rainbows', when it is not 'raindrop keep fallin on my head'. The weather station will be located closer to the coast - either in Reedsport at the Umpqua Discovery Center or in Elkton at the Elkton Community Education Center. Plan for now is to receive the equipment, assess the package footprint, create a space to set it up, calibrate, and start collecting data.
